The Tinker's Daughter

I just finished a great book called "The Tinker's Daughter - A story based on the life of Mary Bunyan" by Wendy Lawton. Here is a little paper on the moral of the story.


I can do all things...

Do you sometimes find yourself not wanting other peoples help because you want to show that you can do it on your own? Do you ever reject help so you can do it on your own, show that your not helpless, and be independent? Well your not the only one that has ever felt this way. Mary Bunyan was the blind daughter of John Bunyan (the author of Pilgrims Progress). Being blind kept her from wanting peoples help. She wanted to do things on her own to show that she wasn't helpless. She didn't even want God's help! John Bunyan was a very religious man and often quoted scripture. One verse he said often was "I can do all things though Christ who strengthens me."Mary often heard him repeat this and soon started saying the first part "I can do all things...", but she always left of the part about Christ strengthening us. Mary went thought part of her life not wanting God's help. She tried to do everything by herself. Finally she realised one day that she couldn't do "all things", on her own, but she could do all things though Christ. She came to know Jesus and a great burden was lifted off of Mary that day. None of us can go though life without needing God's help. Let him help you today. Lay your burden at his feet and follow him. He loves you so much.

An Old-Fashioned Girl

I just finished a great book called "An Old-Fashioned Girl" - By Louisa May Alcott. It was a great book and I would recommend it for ages 10 to 16 or 17. It's about sweet Polly, a lively girl that lives a simple life and don't just go with the flow of social life at that time. (Such as the fashion.) She visits her cousins/friends (the Shaw family) in the city. They are social people and are wealth. Her friend Fanny is very up to date with the fashion at the time. They become good bosom friends even though they are very different. Tom (Fanny's brother) loves Polly like a sister and Maud (Fanny's little sister) admires Polly. They all have wonderful times together. Then the story skips six years. By then they have all grown up, but they are still mostly the same. I can't tell the rest of the story or I would ruin it for you, but I can tell you that Polly falls in love with someone, doesn't marry another, and finds out that being old-fashion is the best life to live.

What's this blog for?

(I am on an adventure to find great books and share them with you.) I am starting this blog to write about books I have read. This will be a good place for me to write book reports, give my reviews, and let you know about good and bad books (hopefully not many bad books).

I am home schooled so I read a lot! I really want to do more book reports, so I will probable be doing them the most.

When I write a book report I will include:

-The five main characters
-A summery of the story
-What I liked about the story
-What I didn't like about the story
-What the moral was (or was there one at all?)
-What I learned
-Was there any real history (and if so what was it)
-And much more...

I hope you enjoy reading this blog. I can't tell you how often I will be about to blog here because it all depends on when I finish a book.

I am also a christian so all of my writing will be God honoring and will be God focused (But I hope that this doesn't stop you from reading my blog.). For example: I might say that a character lied a lot and how that is wrong because God commands us to not lie.
